Un dels aspectes que definia la <em>beat generation<\/em> era el retorn a la natura i la vida salvatge. I un dels poetes del moviment (en qui est\u00e0 inspirat el personatge principal d\u2019aquella obra de refer\u00e8ncia), \u00e9s <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Gary Snyder<\/strong><\/span>, encara supervivent, de qui s\u2019ha publicat en catal\u00e0 <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong><em>Les muntanyes s\u00f3n la teva ment<\/em><\/strong><\/span>, poemes i assaigs testimoni del per\u00edode en qu\u00e8 va estar fent de guaita forestal per les serralades de la costa oest.
